Just replaced the hard drive in my old 2008 Imac and... it didn't work lol

It's doing exactly what it did before, but now it makes an annoying noise as well!

I turn the mac on it powers up, does the chime gets to about 1/3 up the loading bar and freezes. Trying to access the USB installer, doe's the same thing 1/3 of the loading bar and stops.

I followed instructions step by step following a good YouTube video. Pretty sure I dd it all right, I was careful not to forget anything. Also was careful selecting a HD that is compatible with my imac. But in the end it didn't work.

Anybody have any idea what could be wrong?

What program did you use to transfer the old HDD to the new one?

Did you upgrade to an HDD or to an SSD? Do you have a Fusion drive?
