hi there,
i had a small problem with my launch date (9th November) iphone. on occasion when i received a sms message the alert sound would sort of judder. anyway i took it to an apple genius who reinstalled the 1.1.3 update which i had already done, he told me to come back if i still had the same problem. i was still getting the problem so back i went. between my first and second visits to the apple store, the 16gb version was released.
as i was chatting to the genius i asked if it was possible to pay the extra for the 16gb version as he had agreed to swap over my phone. he said that that wasn't possible which i wasn't too bothered about but wouldn't mind having nonetheless.
he gave me a refurb 8gb iphone as a replacement. i asked to check it before i went away and its seemed fine. its battery was almost dead as i walked out of the store. having used it for a couple of days now i've noticed that i've got a dead pixel towards the corner of the screen and the phone appears to have the negative black screen issue. now i've never seen an iphone with this problem so i may be wrong but when i'm watching a video (especially in the dark), dark objects on the screen have a sort of interference on them and its difficult to distinguish lines and shapes.
another thing i noticed is that yesterday i picked up my phone from charge in the morning and by 10pm the battery had cut out. i didnt even give it that much use, certainly not enough for less than a days battery life.
so tomorrow i'm gonna pop back to the apple store and explain that i'm not happy with my replacement. what i was wondering is would it be reasonable to politely demand a new 16gb which i'll gladly pay the difference on? either way i'm taking my MB with me so i can check the phone completely before i leave the store.
