Problems with Safari

Hi everyone, I have a problem with creating tabs within the same window in my Safari browser. I used to not have this problem until about one month ago, whenever I try to open a new tab by holding down command T a new tab does open, but the new tab is blank while the old tab is replaced by the webpage that is supposed to be in the new tab. Besides, when i want to open a link in a new tab in the same window by holding down command key while clicking on the link, the link opens in a new window instead (there was no such problem before). Anyone knows what's gone wrong? Thanks in advance!
