Problems With Sky Broadband

I recently had Sky broadband installed (the 8MB option) and, although files are downloaded quickly, it takes between five and twenty seconds for each web page to open. Sometimes even longer. Occasionally, a web page will open immediately just to remind me what I'm missing most of the time!

Sky technical support were completely useless. I have an iMac running OS X 10.4.8 and reinstalled the operating system last week in the hope that this would resolve the problem - which it didn't.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check that your Mac's network settings are to pick up DNS servers automatically from the Sky router. Also check that IPv6 is turned off, since on some OSX installations that can cause a delay for some reason.

Are you wired or wireless to the router? If wired check that the ethernet cable isn't faulty.

I deleted the IP addresses in the box for DNS servers and turned off IPv6. The speed is now extremely fast. Thank you so much for your advice.
