I would be very happy if anyone can help out. I've been surfing the internet, including this forum, to learn how to make a TOC in Word 2004, but I can't make it work.
What seems to be the problem?
Word does not accept that I choose any other style than "normal" for most of the chapter headings I want to include. Hence, they do not turn up in the TOC. I select the text, e. g. "Introduction", and choose "Heading 1" from the toolbar. Although it is not shaded or anything, it stays at "normal".
For some of the chapter headings, it does work. I cannot figure out why it doesn't work for the others. There are no obvious differences.
