Hey, I know that Time Machine isn't officially supported over the network to an airport extreme station, but I did the workaround that I've read here and in a few other locations and have successfully gotten it to back up. However, I since have 2 issues with the procedure.
First, when I first did the backup, I did the entire backup plugged in directly to my Macbook Pro. It went all well and good in a relatively short time. However, when I plugged it into the airport it did ANOTHER complete backup and so now 160 of my 200 gigs partitioned are full. So my first question is is there a way to delete the original backup (USB) and keep the Airport complete backup?
Secondly, I let the second complete back up go and it completed, and has done a few more incremental backups since then. So, feeling adventurous, I deleted a file, and looked to try and restore it. However, when I went to the time machine, the arrows did nothing and the side bar only had text for "Now" and "Today". I could still access my data if I went through the file directories while in time machine (going somewhere along the lines of going to MyBackupDrive->Backup.db->theDate/time of the backup-> and so on. I would be more specific but I'm at work and not at my macbook so I can't remember the actual path.), but that was the only way I could get to any data.
Anyone have one or both of these issues? I'm more concerned about the arrows than the 2nd complete backup ,but I'd really like to have both solved.
