Problems with touch id iphone 6 plus

Hello,

I got my iPhone 6 plus from a friend of mine that use to be mine. I'm not sure if it's the update that messed up the touch id or that if something is wrong with the button. When I try to add a new finger print it does nothing at all. The phone works just fine I haven't found anything wrong with it but only the touch id.

Anyone have some ideas as to why the touch id does not work?

Have you tired to reboot the device? How about a restore as new?

Yes I have done 2 factory resets to the phone already. I never saw my friend use touch id always putting in the password but I never asked him why.

I saw some where that if water gets in the touch id it stops working I'm wondering if that could be the problem?
