Process for activating iphone 6 being shipped to me from Apple?

First time ordering online from Apple and the 6 will be shipped to me - I am with AT&T and switched from a 2 yr to Next and have kept unlimited data.

Do I simply activate it from the device and it will the de-activate my 5? Do I have to switch SIMS? Do I need to call ATT?

Everything else I can backup from icloud but just needed some advice on the actual phone service activation.

You just activate from the device. No need to call att.

just follow the steps when you turn on your phone. you can transfer or restore from backup via iTunes once it's complete.

Activate new iPhone, old SIM will die and the new one takes over. Done!
