Can someone give me the step by step of what needs to be done as far as buying the new iPhone through Apple store and switching carriers? I currently have Verizon and need to switch to AT&T due to reception issues at my new home.
I called AT&T and Apple twice, and got 3 different answers so I am more confused now. And will I get the same monthly pricing at Apple that AT&T advertise?

I have created and commented in threads regarding this same issue. Haven’t gotten much help at all. Apple support isn’t helpful at all either.

Some say that you are able to go into Apple store and they can make the switch. Essentially they swap phones, citizens bank will then basically refund what you’ve paid and put it towards new device. However I’ve gotten no confirmation this is how it works.

I am also needing to switch....from AT&T to Verizon.

anyone? this cant be a rare thing to do....so why is it not cut and dry the process??

Like I said, I’ve been trying for some time to get answers on here. No help. Best to just go to Apple store and talk to them. That’s what I am going to do. Sadly the Apple store is 45 min away, hence why I also hoped for help here.

Good luck!

P.S. I’m told the process involves them taking phones back and issuing different ones (compatible with new network), I haven’t done it because it also requires another credit check for new loan which I find ridiculous. I don’t want yet another ding on my credit for it....makes me mad when they just did one for my current device (iPhone X).

Sorry, misread. Go to at&t and setup your new account, your current phone will work fine on At&t. Go to apple and order your new at&t phone on your new account.

Best done at the cell phone stores vice at apple stores. I have to believe it's easier especially porting a number from on provider to another.

Actually you are going from VZW to AT&T...your phone is compatible. Just go to AT&T store :). My problem is more complicated....

So my iPhone 6plus with Verizon will work on AT&T as well? so basically just go to AT&T store, open up service with them, they will port my number from Verizon and close my Verizon account, then I would just go to Apple store and buy my new phone with AT&T ?? reason I want to buy from apple is I have like $500 on Apple gift cards that I want to use towards my new phone..

If you're unsure if the old phone will work, go to the Apple store, buy an AT&T phone. Tell them you're good to set it up yourself. Walk in to AT&T, set up service and port your number. Insert SIM card in your new iPhone.

Correct, your 6 Plus will work fine on At&t. Just do exactly what you posted and you will have no issues.
