Why oh why does iTunes insist on processing album artwork for my music files? It's utterly pointless for me since none of my stuff is on the iTunes Music Store, nor does it have any album artwork. I've disabled the preference to download album artwork, but it still does it.

That's weird. I was going to say that it doesn't matter that your music isn't from the store and if you don't have it iTunes will get it but if you specifically selected not to get it, very odd. Does it try to go through your whole library and you make it stop, or does it just try it on new tracks, or what?

New tracks only. It even does it if I'm not connected to the Internet and I add (or convert) tracks.
