Boon Docks USA
My upgraded mac pro had a processor glitch today. One core showed all red (wired area according to activity monitor) and maxed. I run boinc using 7 cores 24/7. This is the first time this happened. Had a hard time stopping the program. Once the program quit, I couldn't shut down properly so held the button in until it shut down. Fired it back up and no problems. These were used chips so wondering if I have a processor going bad. Any suggestions what might have caused this?

sounds more like a rogue program than a processor glitch. did you have a kernel panic? I don't think it's anything to worry about. If you do worry, I'd worry more about whatever program caused it to happen than the processor.

I agree, it probably a "stuck process"

next time it happens, open activity monitor and see which process has the CPU pegged...
