When looking at the geek bench result browser it says that the macbook air 13" 1.8ghz i7 outperforms the macbook pro 15" 2.4 ghz i5. Geekbench is only a memory and cpu test. Is last years 2.4 ghz processor inferior to this years 1.8 ghz processor?

It is actually. There is a new architecture, more aggressive turbo boost, both improving performance. Would you actually see a difference? probably not a huge one, maybe a slight improvement in demanding apps.

No way, this is very good to know...also, we get a nice jump in performance from that flash memory. :D
