I have had some GREAT product ideas.

I was 15 or 16 when the first unibody MacBook Pros came out. I thought how awesome it was that all the ports were on one side... because if anyone remembers, the classic MacBook Pro had ports on both sides, so the docking stations for those MacBook Pros were awful.

So I thought it would have been awesome to create a dock that sits vertically onto the ports. I drew up some sketches of what I wanted and I actually believe I still have some of those sketches at home.

I begged my parents (my mother being a lawyer) to help me patent that idea. They of course refused.

And then my heart gets broken when I see Henge Docks released and making money and being popular...

My question to you guys is, next time I come up with a product design, how do I patent it and bring it to market?

And talk about ideas that you had that you never implemented and every time you remind yourself what could have been you get a little sinking feeling in your stomach.
