Normally I'd tend to agree its variance. Just seems odd that they would have this much variance when they made such a big deal over the tolerance they could hold on cutting the chamfers. Then again as some one already mentioned its hard to see what this would accomplish if it were a production change.

Looking at the first picture maybe. The second picture shows a clear difference in the chamfers.
 
Maybe different factories are cutting them a bit differently? Seems like a quite a big difference and can be annoying to those "perfect fit" cases
 
That isnt variance IMO. Just have to wait and see if anyone else is getting phones with the new look. Too much of a difference to be just "variance".
 
Looks like an obvious difference to me. Mine looks like the one on the right. Picked up at Apple store about 5 days ago. Production week is 42.

quite a large difference. With how specific they claim to be on the mfg. process, I would not expect that to just be because of "variance".

My guess: Apple may be tweaking the mfg. process to account for chipping or whatever.

...that or it's a fake!
