Professional, thin, not leather case set-up for iPad 2 - recs?

Hi all. Sorry, me again!
I've paged through about a zillion pictures of people's set-ups, but the cases I like are all for the new iPad only, and I currently have a 2.

Right now, I have a casecrown. It's was great at first, but after 10 months it's sort of mushy and looking bedraggled. It's also too much bulk.

I'm looking for something that:
~ provides some protection (but I don't mountain bike with it or anything),
~ I can take to meetings (upper level university admin),
~ isn't leather (vegan),
~ comes in colors besides black
~ doesn't cover the whole bevel (like the CaseCrown does)

I don't adore the Apple smart-cover, but if that is the best setup option, I can live with it.

I did not like the Smart Cover either until I coupled it with the inCipio Smart Feather. The combination is really light, and I do like having the Smart Cover secured in place. The hinge system works very well too. Probably the thinnest full coverage option I can think of.

Somwhat thicker but nice is the STM Skinny. I have one of these too for time I want more protection.

I love the smart cover. I like it paired with a Zagg Leatherskin, they make a poly version that's not leather.

That's pretty nice looking! Any thoughts on how the size compares to the Speck FitFolio? Does the "unhook from the back to fold" process work ok? It's interesting that their page says it is the thinnest folio on the market, but the specs show the same thickness as the Canvas.
