Profile pictures? Am I being beyond stupid?

So...

I uploaded mine, it said it failed to upload I figured it was scared of my face.

Anyway, I goto re-upload it, and there is my picture there.

Yet it's not under my name on here...

I can't believe it's gone 3am...

Profile pic is different than the avatar. The avatar is what you will see beneath your name in a post. And as stated you need to attain 500 posts before you can upload an avatar.
