With a lot of my CDs, I pop them into the computer and let ITunes rip them. Recently I've noticed that a few songs have skips on them, and since I'm an album completist I delete the entire album from the library.

Are there any programs available (for mac or PC) that can scan a disk for skips, etc. that may not be visible when inspecting the disc itself?

Thanks.

cdparanoia, available through Fink or Darwinports, is an ugly little command-line utility that can do an impressive job of recovering the music from imperfect CDs. Here is an older precompiled version you may want to try.

Aqua Cd Burn is a prerelease Mac GUI app that also uses the cdparanoia libraries.

A Windows version of cdparanoia is built into CDex.
