There are many categories this can go under since this relates to the mouse this seems like the best forum.
On keyboards with extra keys you have the option to program those keys to have specific responses within an active application, like forward and back keys for a web browser. You can also program keys to be system wide such as volume control or application launch. Another option is they can only perform one function like iTunes play/pause no matter which application is active.
Anyways I am looking to be able to program extra mouse buttons. So they can have a generic system wide default and application specific functions if a custom program is active.
Specifically I want to be able to use my Logitech MX310 back/forward buttons as page up and page down in Adobe Reader only and return their normal functionality in all other programs.
Is there a program for this for Mac OS X? Windows?
This just seemed convenient so I can stand away from my LCD when using portrait mode and reading long PDF documents.
I tried looking some for a program like this but none were forthcoming. I know there are remotes you can buy but I am looking to do this without any hardware purchase. ie more than $5 is not worth it to me
