App Q&A testing by request.
I'm working on calibrating my home sound system....make sure all the speakers are playing their correct channels....

IS there a program where I can switch which speaker channel is used on the fly? Left, Right, back etc?

(I know Apple Midi setup, but it's not quite on the fly/push button as much as I'd like...)

Some years ago when I was checking my audio cabling, I made some test tones with left-only, right-only, and stereo audio content using the Audacity app.

For the actual testing, I opened all the files at once in QuickTime Player and then told it to play the one I wanted, either looped or not.

If I had to script this in a significant way, I'd probably save the files in a format that the 'afplay' command-line tool can handle (e.g. AIFF or WAV), then run that command using whatever trigger I wanted to connect the script to. For the less technically inclined, both Automator and AppleScript can play audio files quite easily.
