Hello, I've got two quick questions:

-Can I used disk utility to securely wipe the drive that OS X is installed on (the drive only has one partition... the partition OS X is on)?

-I assume that the answer to the first question is 'no'. Can anyone recommend a good program to securely wipe the hard drive of a macbook? By 'good' I mean free and simple.

Thanks much

I'm sorry, I've managed to solve my own problem. Apologies.

DiskUtility works fine for this. Just make sure to select 7- or 35-pass erase depending on how paranoid you are and how much time you've got.

Reboot from install DVD > Open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu > Select the Erase tab > Select method > Click Erase > Find something else to do for a few hours ;)
