Is there a program that will show not just how much HD space I have used (can just do get info for that) but what programs etc are using it. In windows I know a right click can get it but can't figure out what is my space hog.
I used the free DiskInventoryX some time ago, with good results. However, I really prefer the user interface of DaisyDisk, which costs $10 from their website or the Mac App Store. (No, I don't work for DaisyDisk!)

Search with Finder to see if the space is being consumed by a very large file or several large files. Adjust the 50GB in the illustration to whatever size you deem appropriate.
