macOS Programming a smart folder

Hi,
I am new to mac programming. As a first step, I am to create a folder which acts as a smart folder. So if any file or folders are copied into my smart folder, it should just create an image of the file or folder and point it to the original source.

Any small code fragments anyone can provide?
Or if anyone has worked on it.. do you mind sharing your work..
