Little history, internet has been shockingly slow and pages have been tearing. Went into disk utility and it report that

"Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume The volume id needs to be repaired."

Booted off backup and repaired the disk.

Internet still slow as hell.

Today my iMac has been behaving very weirdly. Programs (eyeTv iTunes Safari) keep crashing, that is they just disappear and i get "The program unexpectedly quit" window. Do a little searching in the Console and see a few common repeated errors (referring to plugins i had installed and deleted but missed some alias' elsewhere. 1 Safari, 1 iTunes).

I am hoping that now i have removed those alias' things will get back to normal. However i was wondering if i where to go about a reinstall could i just archive and install to get rid of the problems or would a full install be the only way.

Archive and install only restores the OS files. My preference in situations like this is to backup my data files and then do a clean install of the OS and all of the applications, then restore the data files from the backups.
