what programs do I need to keep my mac running top-notch. Do I need some kind of spyware like avg free? or anti virus. I'm new to macs and I want to make sure I keep mine running good.

Thanks.

No need of anti-virus or anti-spyware.

In fact, there isn't much you need to do to keep your Mac running smoothly. Your Mac would run automatically some maintenance processes while you don't use it.

The only app I can recommend is Onyx.

yes i agree with roco, the only thing i have is diskwarrior. it basically defrags your computer. i only use that and disk utility (which comes with osx).

DiskWarrior recovers lost files by rebuilding directories. It does not defrag your computer's hard drive.
