Progress meter in Tiger's Mail?

I'd love to know how my emails with hefty image files attached are getting on after I press the Send button in the new version of Mail. They seem to disappear entirely, and I have to check back in the Sent Folder to see if they've gone. There isn't even an Outbox Folder any more, from which I guess there might have been a chance of seeing them disappear...
Any suggestions?

This was an annoying change in Tiger's mail. To get a progress report, go to Window/Activity Viewer (or command-0), a mini window will pop up and you'll get to a progress bar to give you some indication of what's going on.
 
Grrrrrrr. Like many people, I think Tigrrrrrrrrrr took a step backward in design when the features you describe disappeared. Send your comment about it to Apple. If enough of us make noise, they might reconsider.
 
I've already sent a report and I'm hoping that enough people have done so to encourage Apple to add this "feature" back in 10.4.3.
