Heard about this a few days ago, awesome that it's getting publicity like this on MacBytes...from what I know, there are only a few devs right now.

Best of luck to the project, it sounds really promising. I downloaded a copy, ran it in X11, was able to open the (included) Windows program Notepad, save a little document...it was kind of neat. Way faster than VPC (I know this from that experience and from asking someone in the #darwine chat room on irc.freenode.net).

It's good to see them submitting everything back to WineHQ, which helps prevent "fragmentation" of the code (where the official version ends up with features A, B, and C, and the Darwine version ends up with A, C and D). By keeping the code together, both versions will get the same features without complicated merges later on.

I was unable tot get it working, could you walk me through it, I'm pretty X11 illiterate.:p

edit: Maybe I should just wait until it's closer to being done.:D

Yeah, don't bother with it, it can't yet run any commerical Windows software. Eventually it will, but they're not up to that point yet.

Phase 1 - Get it running on Darwin/x86.
Phase 2 - Get it running on Darwin/PPC.
Phase 3 - Get it running on Mac OS X.

Currently they're still working on Phase 1.

i REALLY wish i could help out... i guess the only thing i can do is encourage others!

someday this will lead to a breakthrough... i just know it.
