I got this project I need to do over Winter Break.
I need to interview at least 4 people about these questions

*Do this w/o google please*

1) Do you know what DNA stands for?
2) Explain in your own words what DNA means?

There is more, but I can just make stuff up on that part

Deo...errr...nucleic acid - :D:eek:

DNA carries the genetic material that stores and makes up every living organism. From the smallest single-celled organism to Human Beings.

That's all I remember from Bio 101:eek:

What he said. (I don't see you getting very candid answers on this one. Sorry.):)

Oh, I know exactly what the answers to those 2 questions are. The project is actually an interview of adults, and I already interviewed my parents.

remember: You don't have to get it right, just attempt it.

By the way,Prof. is it okay with you if I quote that onto my project? (your answers)

Cool, thanks. My teacher didn't say anything about putting the age, she just said "Adults- that means over the age of 18"

Come on y'all, this is due tomorrow, need to go to sleep by 10ish. I just need one more person to answer 2 measly questions.

Seriously, that is what I would've said. I can say what it is but I can't spell it right! And my definition is exactly what he said! DNA is the building blocks of life and is what makes us unique.

I'm 42, btw.... but don't like to call myself an adult.:p

1. Deoxyribonucleic acid.
2. It is the material used to carry genetic information necessary for heredity in all domains of life.

From memory, and biology was 15+ years ago: deoxyribonucleic acid (that has to be spelled wrong). 4 base units of a, c, g and I believe t, that combine to form the double-helix form of our chromosomes. They make up our "building blocks" by being the basis for creating proteins in our cells. They provide for some randomness in species, because each parent only provides half of our genetic material. I know that with the mapping of the human genome, we discovered that there isn't as much there as was previously believed, so the whole process must be more complex than we thought. Each of our cells other than reproduction and blood have 23? pairs of chromosomes. Duplication of the pairs causes genetic defect. I think I'm going beyond just the question of DNA.

Thanks for making everyone else look bad.:p

So I get my answer in too late. How can this be due on a Sunday, and why did you wait until the last minute?
For that matter, if you are going to "make the rest up", what do you think you won't be learning that you should? Two full demerits for you, young man, and you can kiss computer time on Sunday goodbye.

A very brief, simplified summary of molecular biology. :)

Because I have school on sunday :(, and I procrastinate a lot :D.

Why do you have school on Sunday?

?
Well, it has been a long time., but yeah, both short and simplified. I started yammering about generic abnormalities (trisomies, etc) and some of the articles I've read about the research into aging, but that really wasn't part of the questions.
