Hey, nice work dude! Out of curiosity, does iTunes have a physical section to buy these apps yet? Or is that a webapp, or how exactly does it work?

No, you will have to buy them in the intunes store, which is not updated yet

Okay, then how exactly were you able to load that app into iTunes then? Is the app section already up in 7.7?

He's using a pre-release version of .7.7

Did you actually sync the app with your Phone? That's the real test.

I know he is using a pre-release, but how exactly did he obtain the app that loaded into iTunes?

Ad-hoc distribution as it's known as is intended for only distributing your app to 100-200 people (I forget the # quoted from WWDC), and all those people need to be approved by the developer. Perhaps this distribution mechanism isn't engaged in beta versions of iTunes 7.7...

Well, I wonder if anyone else who has 7.7 can confirm this. iTunes may accept the app, but if it will sync, now that is a whole other issue.

Thats why im saying its fake! why didn't he just use installer!! and again Apple would be smart enough not to leave that open

use installer? I would have used installed if I actually wanted to install the app, but I wasn't. I'm simply trying to make a point, with itunes 7.7

Yes, if anyone has iphone 2.0 beta and would like to test this, simply follow the steps I did and try syncing it. I did not do this because I did not have iphone 2.0 and even if I did, I do not want to mess with my iPhone. I'm waiting until Friday :)

Yeah, the whole Adhoc distribution begs the question - if I can install and run anything that I compile on XCode and maybe give it to a few friends, what's to stop me from posting the XCode project and source to something "unapproved" by Apple and AT&T, so others can DL and compile and install it the same way?

I think they are underestimating the cat they are about to let out of the bag! (And I for one am VERY happy that they are!!!)

Well, now that this is posted on the web, it will surely be patched before 7.7 is released to the public.

no, apple obviously did this for a reason. I mean, you think it was a mistake they they ALLOW you to just drag and drop a iPhone app into the app folder?
