Macmall seems to have a slight discount; is there any reason NOT to use them to buy an rMBP? I am not a student.

My primary concern would be that if something broke later, do I bring it to the Apple store or do I have to return it to MacMall?

If anything breaks under warranty, you will still be covered at any Apple store for repairs.

The difference is that if you purchase through Apple and there are any defects, Apple will (typically) swap you for a new machine within the 14-day window, no questions asked. If you buy through a third party like MacMall or Best Buy, you're under their policy for defects in new machines.
