Hi Folks,

I've just ordered my first ever Mac (15" MBP, 2.66 i7, 8GB, 500GB 7200rpm, Hi Res Antiglare) and would like your opinions on 'permanent' protection such as shell cases, skins, palm rests, keyboard protectors, trackpad skins etc (ie not cases or bags that one would use for transportation).

Are they necessary or not and why?
Which brands/models do you think are good and why?
How easy are they to apply, use, remove etc?

Thanks for you input.

(Can't wait to get my Mac! :D )

protective cases

i'm using my new 13" as a dj rig, which means that it'll be carted about and set up in bars around drunks, etc :)

anyway, i ordered an incase green plastic case for my outer shell. other guys i know use spill guards on their keyboards, but i hate how they feel. mostly, i just want the exterior protected a bit more.

that said, i have a 15" that i use as my main programming/design rig, and i don't have a case on that. it's held up pretty well for the last year without my having to baby it. some scratches on the exterior, but that's just part of the patina as far as i'm concerned.

enjoy your new toy!
