In Windows theres zonealarm for protection, in OSX is there something that can protect a user when connected to a network (library,hotels etc)? What must a novice Leopard do to be safe?
 
os x has a built in firewall (system/security). set the access for specific programs and enable stealth mode. you'll be good.

Hey, I use Intego's Virus Barrier X5, its a real nice peice of software, and can even be used to scan iPhones and iPod touches. Also it has a realtime protection thing too.
