What's the relationship of ProTools and Garage Band?

I just bought an M-Audio Oxygen midi controller, and there is a software disc to assign Oxygen hard buttons to software functions in ProTools.

Does this also work with Garage Band as well?

Is ProTools more a mixing application/recording application like Soundtrack Pro?

Comments appreciated.

To focus my question:

can you control certain functions in Garageband through the hard buttons on the M-Audio Oxygen, or do you need to buy Protools for that?

Check out the support pages at m-audio.com

Some of the older keyboards (like my Axiom) use Enigma software to setup buttons to control GB. The newer ones use something called DirectLink.

Or RTFM :) There is a chapter in my Axiom manual that explains how to configure buttons individually...

I just downloaded the manual of my Oxygen.

Looks like you can program quite a few keys, but not as many as with Protools LE.
