Hello guys

I need some idea about the following prob:

PS 5.5 is crashing right of the bat after attaching a Dell U3011 to the puter. Its working on a Dell 24" monitor just fine at a resolution of 1600x1200 though.

Well single DVI vs. dual DVI...

The mac is a Mac Pro (early 2009, nehalem), OS 10.6.8, GPU is the Nvidia G120.

All other software is running fine. Just PS refuses.

Tuning down the resolution of the 30" has no effect.

I would be very gratefull for any hint. It smells like the GPU acceleration of PS but I'm not certain at all. A GPU upgrade of the mac is pretty problematic. A new GPU, an ATI Radeon HD 5770 kit is meanwhile more worth than the machine itself...

EDIT: turning OpenGL off has no effect.

EDIT II: Nvidia G120 with 512MB RAM (nvidia 9500 series?) - is it that photoshop and dual DVI combinaton deserves more than this? I mean apple use to built pretty ancient GPUs as stock cards in... but that one seems to be a really "stoneaged" one.

in respect to apple product description - that card should work with the original Apple 30" just fine - where unfortunately I do not have any experience. any of you guys?

thx a lot for any efforts

cheers
