It took me awhile to figure out why, all of a sudden, PS CS3 would not load for me. I did some searching and found that one culprit could have been the 10.4.10 update, but that wasn't it.

Long story short, I eventually discovered it was because I had turned off font smoothing with the following command in Terminal:

defaults write -g AppleAntiAliasingThreshold 128

I can't believe I am the first person who has disabled font smoothing and is using PS CS3. But when font smoothing is disabled, PS won't load - it won't even get to the splash screen.

Anyone have any idea how to solve this?
 
Turn your font smoothing back on. Simple...

What's more important to you? Using an expensive productivity app or having clunky looking letters?
