So, I tried burning a Data CD with Toast Titanium, which had a .AVI movie n it, and figured it'd work in my 60GB PS3. It didn't.

Same thing with a USB flash drive with ONLY the .AVI movie file on there.

It plays fine in Quicktime on my MB, so I'm confused.

Should I covert it into some other file type?

Email me at chrisdazzo@gmail.com because honestly, I don't visit these forums very often. Thanks. :D

The Ps3 can not play avi Divx files. It only plays Mpeg4 or H.264 (or AVC as sony calls it). The great part about that, is that those are the 2 exact files the ipod can play. If you have a mac, get iSquint. Its an mpeg 4 converter made for the ipod, but will work just fine for the ps3 as well. If your on a pc, I believe a program called videora will do the job.

Yes!!

thanks for the help. i'll be playing bruce almighty on my PS3 in no time. :D

and of course i have a mac.
and iSquint. i never thought of using that...

i'm thinking either Toasting it or putting it on a USB flash drive. does it matter?/what would work better?

If you want to play AVI on your PS3 really bad, install Yellow Dog Linux and VLC. Then you can play whatever you want.
