PS3 cam with Mac

I have a Powerbook G4, OS 10.4.11. I have downloaded the macam software onto my Mac and the PS3 cam works fine when using it just on the computer. But when I go online to use it with browser-based sites it is not recongnized and I get errors of cam is being used by another program or it is not connected to PC. Other times it will say trying to connect. Is there some other software or settings I need to change to make this work online?
