PS3 encoding with subtitles

Does anyone know of a software that works in OS X that can mux subtitles into an existing avi and create a new file (probably with a .divx extension) that has soft encoded subtitles?

I ask because the PS3 firmware 2.2 allows for subtitles and I would like to make use of this new ability to have the PS3 play all my old files. Thanks.
 
If you could point me at a specific article or forum post it would be helpful. I can't seem to find whatever it is you are referring to. :confused:
