Seven years after first launching on the PlayStation 3 to critical acclaim, thatgamecompany's "Journey" has today launched on the iOS App Store for $4.99 [Direct Link].

The iOS port includes touch controls, and supports the original game's feature that lets you anonymously interact with another player online.

In the game, you play as a character who is exploring the remnants of an unknown world, trying to reach a vast mountain peak. You can play the entire game alone, but if you have the multiplayer feature turned on, the game will randomly introduce companions that can aid you on your journey.

thatgamecompany is also behind "Sky: Children of Light" on iOS, which first premiered on stage at Apple's iPhone X event in 2017. Sky finally launched last month, and it shares many gameplay features with Journey.

You can download Journey on iOS for $4.99 [Direct Link].

Literally just picked this up and played through it on PS4 cause it’s on sale! Incredible game, great for a phone port. A switch port would have been even better imo.... If you’ve never played it before I highly recommend a play through it’s worth every penny.

Ok... I will try it!

$5 is a steal, I'm going to get it. I hope that it gets ported to the indie machine Nintendo switch too

I really enjoyed this game back
when..

Short, yeah.. but it’s fun flying around and interacting with others.. I wonder how it will control in mobile. Don’t envy te person who had to figure that out x_x

Too bad they didn’t add game pad support. I bought it anyway, hopefully they touch controls work well.

Interesting that the same company launched two very similar games within a very short time of each other. Sky has been in Beta testing for a long time now and continues to be as bugs and new features are tested.

I already do this with iOS 13 beta! Just airplay to your Apple TV, then use your choice of controller!
I would much rather have native tvOS support.

But, I am curious, is there any lag with the AirPlay?

Also, do you mean you do this already with iOS games in general? Or with Journey on iOS? I thought Journey didn't have controller support.

WHAT?? I literally just bought a PS4 because I wanted to play this game!

Just kidding, I bought the PS4 ages ago because I wanted to play Horizon Zero Dawn. But I did grab Journey for the thing as well, it's a super excellent experience.

Beautiful game but made my daughter (9 at the time) cry at the end, haha.. it is pretty emotional in an abstract way.

She won’t let me play it in her presence now. :D Really good value here.
