Ive read that in the next version of handbrake the ps3 preset will be dropped

are they any other presets in HB right now that work and look great on the ps3

that would also play on apple tv
 
If that preset is working fine for you why don't you just load it, then save it away as a custom preset? That way when the "official" gaming preset disappears you still have a copy.
