PS3 trouble with iDVD

I've been digitizing my VHS home movies so I can put them on a DVD. Now that I'm at the making a DVD stage, it seems the gods are against me. At first I used Toast to make a simple DVD, but I kept having verification problems. One of the videos kept showing up as two movies in a folder, neither of which play. So I decided to use iDVD. The DVD came out OK, but I'm having huge problems playing the content back on my PS3. What happens resembles a computer not having enough muscle to play back the content, then giving up on it completely and going back to the main menu. This is only on one of the videos (and not the one that Toast was having problems with). Interestingly, my DVD player has no trouble with the DVD produced in iDVD. It plays all the content very well. Has anyone had a similar experience?
