OK here's my problem. I used to have a original 60g ps3 which I had a external hard drive connected to it with movies on it. Avi, mp4, unprotected m4v files. They all played great. Well my ps3 finally quit working so I bought a 500g slim ps4. Downloaded the media player connected my hard drive and the only movies it will recognize are the avi and mp4 files. The unprotected m4v files won't even show up. Any suggestions or solutions.. Thanks in advance.

Have you considered using a streaming app like Universal Media Server? I've sworn by that for a few years now.
