I have a work phone and a personal phone.

During my weekend, I would set my work phone to DND while driving--because with that I could use the driving response. The default said something like 'this person is driving right now,' and I changed it to 'I'm unplugged for the weekend and will respond when I plug back in.' (My weekend isn't the standard weekend, and my clients sometimes don't realize that I don't work on some days.)

But now that option seems to be gone.

I want to be able to have an auto-reply that is only on my work phone at certain days/times: any suggestions?

You can do it with the Driving focus. Just set it up in Settings -> Focus

Want to add:

I know that I can 'Share Focus Status' that then informs people I have notifications turned off, but that doesn't work for two reasons:

1. It doesn't allow me to tailor the message; it doesn't tell them why or for how long.

2. This is the bigger issues: the focus status is ONLY shared with people texting or calling me IF I share across ALL of my devices, including my personal phone which I do not want silenced during my weekend.

Hi Ansath,

First let me just say thank you for positing all those screenshots: that was awesome of you. :)

Second, it all works except the auto-reply still ONLY goes through if I have share across all of my devices toggled on. I need this just on my work phone, not on my personal phone. Any thoughts?

Why is your work phone one of your devices? I would suggest that if your really want to keep home and work separate (and you already have a separate work phone) that you DON'T include your work phone as one of your devices. (with a dedicated AppleID only for your work phone - and no sharing between your work and home phones)
If the work phone is separate, there should be no issue with notifications, or Focus settings, as the two phones would be separate (as work/home should be, eh?), and your home phone won't interfere with your work phone.
Well, OK, that's if you are serious about "unplugging" when you are on "your" weekend.

I own my own business, so my work phone is associate with my Apple ID.

I didn't know that I could create multiple Apple IDs; this might work. I'm trying to read about it now to see what havoc this would create.

Okay, feel like I need to do much more research about creating a new Apple ID. I don't want to screw up stuff, like losing work texts, etc. So I will look into it.

But I'm open to any other suggestions someone might have.

Maybe could stick the new ID in Family Sharing, so you get to access all the apps, etc, but separate for things like focus and work only things.

You can't use multiple AppleIDs on one device, but you don't have to use the same AppleID on every device that you own. It's mostly a convenience, as it is very useful when you need to share just about anything
You will need to delete your work phone from your AppleID account, then create a new account on your phone.
The MAIN item that will be affected will be your purchases, such as apps that you use on the work phone will need to be purchased again if you change that work phone to a different AppleID. (But, might help on your taxes, as those costs would be easy to show as a business-only expense, etc...
Document and photo sharing will be more challenging. You won't be able to play music that was purchased through your other AppleID/iTunes/Music.

Are you using your home phone for your work texts? Texting would come through via your work phone, correct?
I guess you will want to think about anything that is directly work related: Is there anything directly work-related that you do on your home phone? If the answer is virtually nothing, then making a new AppleID account on your work phone shouldn't affect you too much. (All work phone calls come through the work phone number, correct?) Again, apps that you have purchased will need to be re-purchased on your work phone under that new AppleID account.

Ah, yes, I was not thinking about Family Sharing. It's relatively new, and might be good to check that out, might be a good "fix" for your situation.

Interesting. I like that idea. I'll try to learn more about that.

Thank you. I will think about all of this.

I cannot think of anything work-related that I do on my personal phone. However, I do use use music, photos, and some apps (like Notability) on both work and personal phones. I just want to be careful about not losing data or messing up my iCloud stuff (such as storage, music, etc.).

Sounds like I might want to try the Family Sharing route with a new Apple ID first because it seems less overwhelming of a change.

Thank you for your input; it's very helpful. :)

Ansath and DeltaMac,

Thank you so much. I've been fiddling around with things and...think I might have success.

Created a new Apple ID for my work phone, sent a Family Sharing invitation from my personal phone, and set up Focus on the work phone. Personal me sent a few texts to work me and the Holy Grail that is the auto-reply worked!

I'll be on the lookout for any kinks, but I'm cautiously optimistic that things worked, so I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you for reading the post.
Thank you for taking the time to post back and share your knowledge.
Thank you for helping someone you don't know. The world is better with people like you in it.

Hello, it's been awhile and l'm not sure anyone will ever read this, but I thought I'd put it out into the ether.

To solve the problem I posed in this thread, I created an additional Apple ID; it was a tedious process that took awhile. It seemed to work well; however, I was unable to use Apple Pay with my phone on this account because Social Security numbers are allowed only one Apple Pay account and having more than one Apple ID violates that. Therefore, I was unable to use Apple Pay. Since I made this overhaul for business reasons, this has been an insurmountable problem. After much time with Apple Support and much more on my own, I have deleted that additional Apple ID and returned to my single Apple ID situation with the same problem.

TL;DR. Apple Cash work with ONLY ONE Apple ID because each SS# is allowed only one Apple Cash account.
