Some important information for those wanting better performance when mirroring your Mac screen to Vision Pro.

Make sure your Mac and Vision are on the same wifi band, even though the connection is via Airplay. This includes 6e vs 6.

The Vision doesn't support 6e, but the new Mac mini for instance does and is enabled by default.

I've been gaming from my MacBook Air to Vision and the latency has been virtually 0, so I decided to buy one of the new MacBook Mini Pro and was immediately disappointed by how everything felt so janky when compared to the MacBook Air. Even the mouse movement was looking like it was 30 fps and having hiccups. I finally noticed that the Mac mini was set to use Wifi 6e and upon disabling it noticed a huge improvement in performance when streaming to Vision.

Gameplay such as Metroid Prime Remastered and Death Stranding are now butter smooth.

That's very strange, but it's good that you discovered this.
There has to be something we are not aware off regarding WiFi 6e not on the AVP.
The Virtual Display is supposed to work on a Point-to-Point WiFi connection, it doesn't rely on an existing WiFi network to function.

Yes, this was my initial thought as well. AirPlay is point-to-point so technically this shouldn’t affect it, but it’s a repeatable issue so clearly something is wrong. I’ve sent it off to Apple as feedback. That being said, I believe it uses wifi to initiate Airplay so maybe something there is causing the issue.

I noticed as well when streaming games from iPhone with wifi 6e enabled it has the same lag issue. I’m going to try it out later and see if the same issue can be resolved by disabling iPhone wifi 6e.

Finished testing it on my iPhone. Same result, same issue when using WiFi 6e. Issue went away when disabling it and just using WiFi 6.

Hopefully a software update will fix this. Currently WiFi 6e would be a step back for AVP users.
I suspect the problem has to do with the WiFi Radio’s channel width allocated.

Question: What if you enable WiFi 6e on your Mac, but connect it over Ethernet (Make sure is the first interface in order)? Also, enable WiFi 6e but don’t connect to any Access Point with your Mac; only WiFi turned ON.
After thinking about it, I’m more convinced that a software update could fix this.

Thanks for the advice!

I just picked up a Vision Pro today. Does anyone use theirs quite often?

Daily. My main device when at home. Use it for reading books, tv/movies, gaming through Mac to Vision via Mac Virtual Display and wasting time on the web/YT.

Welcome to the club. I use it a lot.
Lately many people have ordered a Vision Pro, some for a second time after returning it before.
You may find lots of positive comments on Reddit, many sharing how they use their Vision Pro for work and productivity.

Why suddenly the reviewed interest?
