Due to changes and updates, if you have an old Steam application, it will be 32-bit and won’t launch under Catalina. If you download Steam from Steam’s website, it’ll be 64-bit and the Steam app will be runnable.
Weird. I don’t have Catalina (can’t upgrade) but some of my apps are not updating anymore, stating they’re not compatible. From what I can tell the newer apps are 64bit, which my mini should be able to handle.
I ran into this. I kept getting messages that Steam wouldn't work in future versions of Mac OS. Confusing because I assumed it would have auto-updated.
if you upgrade steam and it suddenly says half a dozen of your apps are 32bit when you know they aren't, then you either need to nudge it to upgrade again or download steam app again and replace your old one.
