Hi,

tl;dr: iTunes (apparently) deleted my 8.4.1 backup. Be safe and make a copy of your last 8.4.1 backup (or use Time Machine) in case you need to downgrade.

I made an 8.4.1 backup just before upgrading to iOS 9. After a laggy few days on iOS 9, I decided to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1. Before restoring to 8.4.1, I made a backup of my current iOS 9 device. I then went ahead with the 8.4.1 restore. Imagine my surprise when iTunes did not display the 8.4.1 backup I made before upgrading to iOS9 (although it did display much older backups).

Long story short: the 8.4.1 backup I made before upgrading to iOS 9 was deleted, presumably by iTunes. Thankfully I had a Time Machine backup, and despite an initial "backup corruption error", the restore of my 8.4.1 backup seems to be going well (it's in progress now).

Edit: the first restore didn't seem to finish correctly. iTunes thought it did, but the phone was still at the "Hello" welcome screen. After another restore attempt things now seem to be working well.
