I installed said update in march 25th and until just now, everything has worked ok with my mac (early 2015 mbp 13" with HS 10.13.6).

Just a moment ago, I was watching a video on Youtube on fullscreen and when I exited it to check temperatures with iStat Menus I realized that my status bar had frozen completely. Then when I started clicking on items I saw that everything was glitching (menus opened with only the outlines, Activity Monitor was completely black etc). I had no choice than to force shut down my Mac.

I decided to google this issue and behold:

https://mrmacintosh.com/10-15-4-202...me-macs-to-freeze-when-using-video-conf-apps/

In the article it says: "UPDATE 04/01/20: New reports are still rolling in. The issue might not be only related to Video Conference Apps. Some 10.15.4 users are seeing the same issue with anything that is related to hardware accelerated video. Full screen video, video in Safari, YouTube or even applications like Illustrator."

"Affected build versions: High Sierra 10.13.6 Security Update 2020-002 (17G12034)"

"Affected machines: 2015 13″ MacBook Pro (Intel Iris Pro 6100)" <- That's my MBP (there's other models mentioned in the article too)

I guess there's nothing more to do than to wait for Apple to fix this and in the mean time watch videos only with my iPhone... :/

Are you HS user affected by this?

Thanks for letting use know.

Sometimes I update secondary devices first just to see how it is before I update my main device just incase there are obvious issues. If I experience issues, I usually post them here.

I have been extra cautious of SW updates lately, as it seems like Apple has had a drop in SW quality over the last 7 half-decade, IMO.

Hopefully Apple fixes the issue soon.

Same issue on my 2015 MBA w/ 10.13.6. One thing you can try is disabling hardware acceleration in your browser. I just did that to see if it prevents crashing.

Is your problem fixed? I downgraded to Yosemite using Command +R but still fcpx and other apps are not working. Have you tried this?
Downgrading has not helped, this means the firmware upgrade that came along with the update caused the problem.

No, my problem isn't fixed 'cos Apple hasn't fixed this issue yet. It's been two months since I installed the update and nothing still from Apple! You would think that they would be quicker fixing this issue 'cos it's kinda major one? Yeah, still waiting :/

I don't do downgrades so I haven't tried what you suggested.

These security updates can sometimes be a big headache. I regularly keep a cloned copy of my boot drive before any new security updates. In case there are problems after the security update download, it’s quicker to revert back to the older version of the OS.
