It is available for the 5G, but not for the 6G. When you install the profile, it just tells you that iOS 8.4 is the latest version.

Just in case anyone wants to pick up a 6G just for testing iOS 9. It's not an option.

This has got me be a bit unnecessarily cynical. I know that the this latest revision was released only 3-4 days ago, but because there is a lack of an iOS 9 ipsw, can it mean that Apple won't actually upgrade this device to iOS 9?

Maybe a bit premature to question Apple's long term support plans for this latest revision (and maybe Public Beta 2 will include an iPod Touch 6th/7th gen ipsw), but it doesn't hurt to bring up this question.

Also, in the WWDC presentation, there was only mention of iPod Touch 5th gen support for iOS 9 (and I know that Apple wouldn't hint at this latest revision during the keynote at that time), but the config files/plist could've hinted at support for this latest revision that keen observers could've spotted.

What do you guys think? Am I being crazy or can Apple be a total troll and not bring iOS 9 support to this latest refresh?

You are crazy! LOL

The iPT 6 was just released and they will eventually create a ipsw file for it. Perhaps by the time the next public beta is released. However, there is ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that the iPT 6th Gen will be upgraded to iOS 9 upon release.

Yeah, it's definitely getting iOS 9. Even the 5th gen is, and that's a fifth of the speed!

It's just that there isn't a public iOS 9 firmware built for it yet.

This might sound ignorant on my part (don't have technical developer experience), but because the iPod Touch 6th gen basically shares the same hardware as the iPhone 6, shouldn't it be easier to just remove the cellular capabilities from the iPhone 6 iOS 9 ipsw and recompile it as the iPod Touch 6 iOS 9 ipsw?

as of Wednesday you can download Public Beta 2 onto the iPod touch, yay

yeah Tuesday was a screwup, all it did was reset your iPod but you stayed 8.4 but it works now, try again

Love the - back to link
sadly the cursor edit does not work on the iPod touch6 beta2

Podcasts app sees the return of the "sleep function".

no picture in picture, or slide over, ugg

iPod touch public beta two

Safari – request desktop site by holding resend button – works

also holding down the plus button for recently close tabs – works

folders are 3 x 3 ( was hoping for 4 x 4)

Homesharing - works! yes!

The thin San Francisco font looks great on the iPod touch screen.

ICloud Drive is not an app that you can find in the App Store, you have to turn it on in the settings for it to appear on the desktop.

The updated Notes seems nice & works through the cloud.

'VPN Unlimited' works on PB2 (DP4) Public Beta2, so their Profiles work.

The keyboard shift capital letters is a nice addition should've been done long ago.

I sure hope they add the cursor edit to the iPod touch6, it's sorely needed. Maybe public beta3?

does stair/floor climbing via the Health app work with iOS9 on the new iPod Touch? With iOS8 it doesn't count them (even thought it has M8) TIA :)

Yes, the Health app works on iOS 9 iPod. I see steps taken and distance traveled, but nothing about stairs or climbing.
I'm glad you brought that up, I never launch it tell you mentioned it.

I don't use the Health app but I see it tracked me as I cut the grass, (so it was turned off, but was running in the background, I guess).

Went into settings -privacy -motion and fitness - turn that off (default is on I guess) -hope that helps with my battery life.

The iPod touch does seem to have the quick type bar (suggestions) but I don't see the cut copy paste icons, bummer.

I must say the -back to- I've used on many occasions, far more than I thought I would.

-search settings- comes in handy too, luckily I don't play with that much.

I see no setting for low-power mode, settings – battery.

A low-power warning did come up on 20% charge.

I really like the -VPN- next to the wifi icon.
Easy to turn on and off in the settings, and a separate app that shows your web & vpn IP address -nicely done
