I have a PSP and am trying to connect it to my 10.8.4 Mini, without success. I set it to USB Mode, connect properly with cables...but the Memory Stick fails to mount. Can anyone troubleshoot this? Is it a Mountain Lion problem?

-If I set the PSP to mount the UMD Drive instead, that mounts fine.
-The Memory Stick mounted fine on my old computer running 10.4.
-The Stick mounts fine now on my Windows 7 Bootcamp install.

Appreciate any help.

If you can mount the UMD drive, then your PSP is obviously running CFW.

I would suggest that you do whatever you need to do to perform a full factory reset after removing the CFW. Nuke everything, and format the memory card. Then re-install the latest version of your CFW and see if the issue persists.

FYI; in the future, you should post what CFW and CFW version you're running. Your post is so incredibly vague that it's almost impossible to offer any assistance at all.

Running 6.60 Pro-B CFW on a PSP 3000---but note this is the "soft" firmware that must be manually loaded off the Memory Stick each time the PSP boots. I have this problem of the Memory Stick not mounting in 10.8 (only) whether the CFW is loaded or the Sony firmware is running.

Also, I have no problem mounting the Memory Stick under Win7/Bootcamp with the CFW loaded or not, and I had no problem mounting it with CFW loaded under 10.4.

Thanks.

Not sure what the problem is. Have you tried formatting the stick through the PSP?

I've been running Pro-C2 on a PSP-1000 for quite some time. It's got an 8GB stick in there, and it mounts just fine under 10.8.4 and a whole bunch of other systems I've got. I haven't done anything special to the stick, it was formatted through the PSP on the 6.60 OFW before I installed the CFW.

It could be a bug in OS X, but I don't see how. To the best of my knowledge, Apple hasn't actually changed anything in regards to mounting FAT filesystems hosted on a USB mass storage device (which is what the PSP enumerates as in USB mode).

Have you checked to see if the PSP shows up in Disk Utility, and are there any mountable partitions listed under the device?
