I've lost the PSU for my Iomega Minimax 31734900. The sticker on the bottom says it needs 12V DC at 3A, but it's got the barrel type of connector and there's no polarity indication anywhere.

I've Googled in vain for a user manual. Iomega was bought out by Lenovo and it now seems impossible to find any Iomega manuals on their site.

Anybody got the same HDD and can check on the PSU to see what the correct polarity is?

They're usually tip positve and sleeve negative, but some manufacturers do it backwards. If you can open it easily, you can see if one side is connected to a ground plane on the pcb or if there is a diode in line.

Yes, I'd already seen that - and the picture has the barrel connector obscuring (deliberately?) the polarity diagram on the PSU case.

No point my trying to buy it, it's in the USA and I'm in the UK. It'll support UK voltage but shipping charges etc make it unviable.

I've got a 12V DC adapter that will do the job, I just need to know the polarity.

I must have too much time on my hands.... I saw the eBay post. If you click to enlarge the third pic' and then zoom in on your browser, you can just about make out that the centre hollow is the positive pole (which is the most common configuration).
