You can't OTA upgrade from a beta version to the GM nor from a beta to the final release.
You need iTunes.

With this thread and the ten other threads asking exactly the same question here, you would think people would understand the answer by now and that the question wouldn't need to be answered multiple times.

One would think that, yes.

I am amazed at how many duplicate threads there are here and repeats. So much so I almost stopped visiting the iOS7 sub-forum.

I'm not using the betas but just curious, is this actually not possible or is it something that Apple just never does?

It would be possible but that doesn't mean it would be a good idea. Apple never does it and I doubt you'd find many companies that would do it

Any differences between...

The gm release vs the public release?

Thanks in advanced.

I didn't want to make another thread because my question is pretty simple;

If I install the GM version on my phone when it comes out to developers, can I keep going up on the updates OTA when they come out like update to 7.1 ? Please quote me so I know I have gotten an answer :)

Yes. The GM is the same as the public release.

Thanks for the really fast reply :D that's good to know, can't wait to install it tbh..I'm tired of the look of iOS6 but didn't want to install betas on my phone.

You need to stop saying this with 100% certainty, because it's not always the case.

It is, actually. Only twice has the first GM released not been the public release. And in those cases, they release a new, updated GM, which is the public release. In other words, the GM is always the public release.

Also, keep in mind that the GM is already flashed on the new iPhones. If there's a last minute problem with the GM we will get a 7.0.1 update on day one, not another GM. If the Sept. 20 release date is true, the GM has been done and locked for weeks.

EXACTLY RIGHT. I don't know why some people are so dense on this subject all of a sudden. The GM is *always* the public release. That doesn't mean a GM will never be found defective prior to distribution and require a new GM build to be created nor does that action nullify the fact that the public release is always the GM. It's not rocket science. ;)
